The End of the Western World

The End of the Western World and the Birth of a New Global Order

China is On Its Way To Become The Largest Economy and trade partner.

The 2009 book written by Martin Jacques outlines the economic world under China´s financial rule.

The review from the Washington Post outlined how Seth Faison Martin Jacques, a British news columnist, became fascinated by the manic modernization underway in China when he visited in 1993 and its growth as a trade partner.

He saw construction cranes working round the clock, roads streaming with trucks and carts, and peasant women balancing wares on either end of a bamboo pole. China´s vibrant energy and evident willpower got Jacques musing: Would the economic boom follow the Western model?

Seven years later, China became the second world economy and trade partner, surpassing Japan and The New York Times reports this process that will continue to position the largest country becoming the leading economic power no later than 2030.

As per the Amazon.com book review, the Martin Jacques book is “a convincing economic, political and cultural analysis of waning Western dominance and the rise of China and a new paradigm of modernity.

Jacques (The Politics of Thatcherism) takes the pulse of the nation poised to become, by virtue of its scale and staggering rate of growth, the biggest market in the world.

Jacques points to the decline of American hegemony and outlines specific elements of China’s rising global power and how these are likely to influence international relations in the future.”

China is the biggest trade partner in the Asian continent over the US and Japan.

The fact that China is a developing country could be an advantage, as it lends space for tremendous growth for many years to come.

One out of five people in the world is Chinese. Even though the per capita income is similar to those of third world countries, China under the Communist government is reshaping the Global economy.

Martin Jacques “When China Rules The World” author, is a columnist of the Times of London and writes a regular column for The Guardian.

eGovernment: The Citizen Social Network Interrelation

eGovernment And Social Network Impact On Citizens

We live in an information society integrated by technology savvy citizens who interact more effectively to build a more secure and inclusive society.

The development of citizen centric society is creating a trend for governments to empower the citizens to participate and influence the government to create a< closer public and private relationship.

The widespread use of mobile communication devices, the availability of broadband connectivity promotes citizen empowerment to enhance participation in decision making and ultimately build citizen centric public organizations.

Web 2.0 was a great revolution with so many communication and sharing changes that it´s not difficult to think about web 2.0 as a revolution which changed the way we use the Internet.

Now we are facing a great change in the way Government inter connect with it´s citizens. It´s the Government citizen interrelation which is generally referred as eGovernment or government 2.0 or electronic government.

As per Wikipedia,
E-Government eGovernment “is creating a comfortable, transparent and cheap intersection between government and citizens, government to business and relations between governments”

eGovernment or web 2.0 Government looks like the avenue for government to adapt to the fast changing world of sharing and participation of our new society.

The India Water Portal on Facebook “is an open, inclusive, web-based platform for sharing water management knowledge amongst practitioners and the general public.”

As per web 2.0 content Social media and web 2.0 Government define “activities that integrate technology, social interaction and content creation. Social media tools use the “wisdom of the crowd” to collaboratively connect online.”

Web .2.0 is about RSS feeds, blogs, wikis, photo sharing, video sharing, podcasts, social networking, social bookmarking, widgets, virtual worlds, micro blogs, and as we can see in USA government sites, India Water Portal in Facebook, and many more around the Internet planet, makes it obvious that web 2.0 is going into a new area of development: eGovernment.

Our networks are ruled by two giants: Facebook and Twitter.

The Government Social Networks rankings are as follows: As per OhmyGov!

Military.com is the largest online military community with more than 10 million active and retired military members. This a “social network, news site, educational resource and job search engine.”

Govloop.com is a very vocal community of tweeters and bloggers. By numbers, it´s not a large community but somehow their members are highly influential which give this social network a unique relevance.

ExchangesConnect is an International Online Community managed by the US Department of State´s Bureau of Educational & Cultural Affairs. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=17739977788

GovCentral “connects you to the information and resources you need to get ahead in your Government career. Get free information from reputable schools with flexible degree programs that fit your schedule”

OurBorder this government social network is run by US Customs and Border Protection Agency.

And the Federal Contractor Network is a linking site to Twitter, LinkedIn and other social networks build on a Ning platform with all the features associated to this networking platform.

This whole new world of Government social networks deserve a completely new way of thinking about the public sector and a reminder of how big and widespread is the Social Networking phenomenon.
